Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman said real lesson of holy Ashura is to resist against dictatorship even at the cost of life
Terming that there were innumerable teachings and exemplary examples for the Muslim Ummah on the 10th of Muharram, professor Mujib said the date of Ashura is also mentioned in the holy Qur’an as the day of liberation and salvation.
On this day, Prophet Moses was freed from the clutches of Pharaoh. On this very day, almighty Allah, created the world and saved 10 prophets and messengers from various calamities and gave blessings. So, the Prophet Muhammad(sm) urged all the Muslims ummah to keep fasting on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, he pointed out.
He was speaking at a discussion and prayer program on holy Ashura as the chief guest at a city auditorium on Thursday organized by Jamaat Dhaka City South.
Jamaat Dhaka City South chaired the function.
Jamaat Dhaka City South nayeb-e-ameer Munjurul Islam Bhiyan, secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud and Assistant Secretary Abdul Jabbar, among others, were present at the program.
Citing Prophet Muhmmad (sm), prof Mujib said there is special importance and encouraged Muslims to observe fasting on the day of holy Ashura. The most important fast after fasting in Ramadan is the fast of Ashura or Muharram.
Ashura is also the day of a historic revolution against dictatorships and tyrants. Ashura teaches us to stand up against injustice and oppression at the cost of our lives, with the spirit of uncompromising protest against the establishment of dictatorship, the Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer insisted.
The Karbala incident proves that it is a great honor to bow one’s head to cause for almighty Allah instead of bowing to the dictatorship, he said.
“We must have prayers for those who have won the sharia revolution in Afghanistan today. We hope that they would be able to run the country in the right way in Islam”, he said.
The heartbreaking incident is the martyrdom of Karbala. The history of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hossain Ibn Ali (RA), grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the savior of humanity and the barbarity of the Yazid forces on the ground of Karbala on that day, sets a unique example of sacrifice for the Muslims, Professor Mujibur Rahman said.
However, the real history and teachings of Karbala are distorted and the main events in the Indian subcontinent are presented differently, he points out.
On this glorious Day of Ashura, one must not only mourn and mourn, but also engage oneself in the struggle to establish truth and justice with the fighting spirit of protest. This is the underlying teaching of Muharram, Prof Mujib stated.
Speaking on the occasion, Nurul Islam Bulbul said the holy Ashura is widely discussed and significant in the history of Islam. On this day, various events of history have taken place.
Therefore, we have to be inspired by the spirit of martyrdom and speed up the movement for the establishment of Islam and humanity from all kinds of oppression and obstacles, he said.
“Although Ashura is resourceful and historic events in the history of Islam, the most recent event is the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in the desert of Karbala.” Basically, this day of Ashura is more memorable in history. Imam Husain (RA), knowing the certain death, fought against injustice and was martyred, but did not show loyalty to Yazid’s autocratic rule”, the city ameer Bulbul said.
Such self-sacrifice for the establishment of truth and justice is unprecedented in the history of the world, he said.
The brightest example of martyrdom has always had to be presented against those who established dictatorships by depriving the people of their rights. The desire for martyrdom to establish an Islamic way of life in the state is still visible in the country, he stated.
The activists of the Islamic movement must play a greater role of pioneers to free the country from the tyranny of dictatorial and fascist forces, he mentioned.
“We must remain steadfast in establishing truth and justice, ignoring all forms of oppression and conspiracy. It is never possible to establish a just society without sacrifice”, he added.
Manjurul Islam Bhuiyan said the battle of Karbala was the battle of the oppressed against the tyrant ruler.
Ashura teaches every Muslim to survive on the difficult ground of establishing the religion through renunciation. There is a conspiracy to destroy Islam in our beloved homeland Bangladesh, he said.
The government has established a reign of terror across the country to destroy Islam and Islamic values from the country. Every Muslim in the country must be aware and vigilant now, he added.
Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said that on this day, Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Prophet (SAW), was martyred with his own family on the ground of Karbala while protesting against the injustice, oppression and violation of the principles of Islam by the oppressive ruler Yazid.
Originally, Imam Husain (RA) gave the teachings to the people of the world through his martyrdom with his own family that no believer can bow down to worldly interests, he said.
On the other hand, Allah declares that if the believers are patient, then Allah will be with them in the face of all adversaries, Dr Masud said.
So even if the neck goes away, we have to play a firm role in the field with the strength of faith (Iman). This is the real lesson of Ashura Day, he added.
